Dim sum Sundays are fantastic and Royal China makes them even more fun. This particular branch is at the river bank in Canary Wharf and you can soak up some sun before sitting inside to eat yourself to food coma.
Booking: Highly Recommended, there has been very few times I didn’t see a long queue outside and on Sundays come a little later around 3 because they don’t take bookings and most of the crowd is gone. They close dim sum at 4 so beware.
Interior and Ambiance: Honestly it is just another Chinese restaurant with dragons and red silk table cloth and some paintings with Chinese calligraphy. It is quite crowded and do expect some crying children around because a lot of families come here.
Food: We ordered a mix of 8 different types of Dim Sum along with beef noodles. The noodles were amazing with perfect amount of beef and spices and we ordered another one later because it went well with the dim sum.
The collection was quite impressive overall with a mix of minced prawns, full prawns, chicken, pork, beef, spring rolls and my favourite scallops dumplings. I was a bit skecptical of scallop dumplings but they were absolutely amazing and done to perfection and not overcooked at all.
The best thing I got introduced to was chicken feet in Soya black bean and chilli sauce. Despite sounding gross, it is actually quite amazing, slightly gelatinous these chicken feet with black bean sauce made us order another one just to keep going. My new love!
Things to love: The food is delicious and the choice is staggering, you are literally spoilt for choice here and it is not excruciatingly expensive for the amount of food either.
Negatives: The long queue outside, crowded place and long wait between served was a bit of let down.
