Chimera Di Bocco is a gem in the heart of Trieste, one that was an absolute delight to visit. Located next to the main Unity Square, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating and the menu is very well put together with a great selection. Chimera di Bocco is a must visit if you visit Trieste to see the stunning North coast of Italy like me or are passing by on the way to Slovenia or Croatia.
Booking: Booking is highly recommended because the the restaurant gets booked quite quickly even for a town the size of Trieste.
Interior and Ambiance: Honestly I didn’t even bother going inside. The weather outside was a perfect 21 degrees in Spring and I didn’t want to waste a minute of it indoors. The outdoor area is very beautiful between 3 narrow streets.
Food: Absolutely delicious and you love it even more with each course. Fish and seafood are a specialty of this town so I decided to stick to those which was a wise decision.
Starter: The grilled scallops with sautéed wild asparagus and the sweet shallots – Scallops were perfectly coloured and cooked which is a very difficult thing to get right. The asparagus made the combo divine.
Main: Mixed fried fish… the recipe of Villa Veneziani – A seklection of ifferent type of battered and fried fish. The fish was french and very delicate, absolutely cooked to perfection. The calamari was amazing with a dash of lemon juice.
Things to love: The atmosphere, the hearty food, a very detailed and beautiful menu and friendly, smiling staff.
Negatives: I wish I could spot any.
