This is the only restaurant in my life I have come out of hungry of despite spending 3 and a half hours. My friends discovered this place in Rio on recommendation from a local friend. They already paid a visit and eagerly took me there. It was around 10 pm and we took a taxi considering it is located in a bit ‘dangerous’ area pfffff!
I got quite intrigued by this eccentric chef who runs the place with her son. The only staff the restaurant has is the chef, her son and a helper; truly family owned and run. We sat around 15 minutes to get the menu after which it took another 15 minutes to take order. Despite being super hungry we patiently waited and after another 15 minutes got the drinks. After an hour there was still no signs of food.
The menu was quite simple and we chose cod and cheese croquets with ceviche along with chicken rice with Okra and some wings with sauce (I don’t remember this part because it never arrived) .
After an excruciating hour, the croquets arrived and almost fought my friend off to take a photo. They were very nice and within 5 minutes in our stomachs. I was happy at least the flow started not knowing what’s to come. The next dish arrived in 30 minutes (yes!!!) and the portion was so small it was instantly gone. After another 45 minutes we got the ceviche which was not as great and then I gave up. The chef sent some prawns to make up for the delay but after another 15 minutes we decided to leave because it had been more than 3 and a half hours and we weren’t even done with starters.
The food was good but the intervals between and the whole experience just put me off completely. No chance I’m even thinking of going near this place.
