Kaosarn is a diamond in the rough. This small unassuming and very simple cafe serves great Thai food and that’s it. It is located in Brixton village market at the corner. You can choose outdoor or indoor seats.
We decided on indoors because it was a pretty tough day outside. The staff is extremely friendly and sweet and showed us to our seats and gave us the menus.
My friend is lactose intolerant and our waitress very patiently pointed the options and offered to make her favourite without any dairy (no tofu).
We decided on Pad Thai and Khao Pad Kra-Praw which is spicy thin slices of beef stir fried with chillies and basil.
You can see the activity and buzz in the kitchen and whenever a waft of food came in our tummies growled a little.
The food arrived quite quickly and we just jumped on it. Pad Thai was amazing even with the less spicy option and stir fried beef with extra spices (I love spicy foooood, there I admit it!). The prawns in Pad Thai were perfectly done without any sign of rubbery texture. The smell and texture of food spoke for its freshness.
The chilli game in stir fry was strong but just right because I could still taste the sauce and basil.
We paid the bill and got back to work rubbing our tummies and licking our lips.
