Muga is a ramen bar that opened 5 months ago between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. It has a feeling of a cozy little place from outside which turns cosier inside.
The seating arrangement is a bit unorthodox because of the shape of place. We were seated close to the door and the menu arrived quickly. The first reaction was a sigh because it was almost entirely based on Pork which we don’t eat. The ramen especially were all based on Pork, the most famous Tonkatsu which is made by 10 hour slow cooked broth.
The starters were nice and honestly the best part of the meal; Teriyaki chicken, lotus roots stuffed with chicken mince and octopus balls with fish flakes.
The ramen bowl arrived which was vegetable based with deep fried chicken. The portion was huge with Pakchoi, eggs and chicken but it was too watery and pretty much tasteless. We moved on and placed our faith in the dessert which was Mochi ice cream and warm pancakes with beans sauce and green tea ice cream.
Finally the desserts arrived, which were the saving grace especially Mochi ice cream, which made up in some way for the watery Ramen.
For a Ramen bar, Muga is quite mediocre and for that price it most certainly fails to impress especially with slow service.
