Based in the oldest standing building in Oslo, Stortorvets Gjæstgiveri is something of a marvel.
The entrance and seating area reminds you of the traditional Nordic glamour and grandeur. The restaurant is located in the centre of town and boasts traditional Norwegian delicacies with great drinks and a classic Norwegian experience.
They serve traditional Norwegian cuisine of which I chose reindeer. The bread was soft, butter delicious; this is quite common in Nordic countries and bread is provided as complimentary starter. Another interesting thing was wheat crackers which you can try with butter or use instead of bread with food. The reindeer was medium rare with slight tang of berries in the creamy sauce. The meat was very red like beef with slightly saltier.
Like all things good this is a pricey place but the visit is totally worth it if you happen to be in Oslo and fancy some great food and traditional Norwegian cuisine.
