Nomad is located in the heart of Medina and makes a perfect spot for a great lunch, a dinner after all the bargaining and haggling with the shopkeepers or simply a glass of wine/cocktail to wind down on the terrace. The place was acquired by a French designer and turned into a restaurant with a ‘modern take on Moroccan food”.
Quite surprisingly, the first thing you will see is the kitchen for restaurant which is located right in front of the entrance door; quite immaculate!
You have the option to sit indoors or out on the terrace, now with such amazing weather I would never forgive myself for a boring indoor meal so made the reservation for outdoors. The menu is quite amazing with a selected number of starters and main courses.
I ordered Harira which a soup made of veggies and lentils in tomato base served with bread, which was quite delicious. For mains I chose lamb tagine with prunes and almonds. The meat was extremely nice and tender and prunes enhanced the flavor with each bite. The quality of meat can be judged by the juices, tenderness and smell. This definitely passed all tests.
Finally I ordered some dates cake with freshly whipped cream for dessert and ordered some mint tea to help with the digestion of this meal. The dessert was spoon licking good and mint tea was refreshing especially with the evening breeze on the terrace. All in all it was a good experience except for two factors; lack of any locals in the restaurants (I didn’t see a single local in the place other than the staff) and very slow service. The worst part was standing in the line to pay the bill which completely ruins the image of this restaurant as a high end place within the exotic Medina.
