Byblos Harbour

London is teeming with places claiming to have authentic Lebanese food which makes it very difficult to find one that is ‘Lebanese’. Last weekend when London was roaring with crazy winds we decided to pay a visit to Byblos Harbour because it includes not only Lebanese food but also Shisha, two birds with one stone…
The restaurant is located in very beautiful surroundings with the view of South Quay and Millwall Inner Dock, the night we went had some fireworks which made it even better. We were seated inside and provided with menus which were quite nicely sorted with a very good selection of cold and hot starters and my favourite lamb dishes.
We ordered Moutabal (cold aubergine sauce) and kawarma which is hummous with small chunks of lamb and pine nuts. For main we went for our all time favourite lamb shank with mince rice and mixed grill. Moutabbal had the perfect tangi-ness at perfect temperature and kawarma with a generous sprinkle of nuts and lamb. The bread that came with the starters was nice and warm.
Lebanese know perfectly how to grill food and this place has the perfect grilled meat, lamb and chicken both. Highlight of the meal was lamb shank that came with minced rice and Yakhni (broth of lamb shank). The meat was perfectly tender, soft and juicy with perfect balance of spices matching the rice.
We finished the big meal and moved ourselves outside to enjoy some Moroccan mint tea and shisha.
The place has great food albeit a bit pricey and finally we have a great Lebanese place to go to for next time.
